Uniformed Service Discounts and Auto Insurance

Do the military, police, firemen or other uniformed services receive a discount on auto insurance rates? This is a great question and something that should be asked at the time of requesting your free auto insurance quotes. Some discounts are applied to your policy in the case of you turning twenty-five, or if you get married and both of you are twenty-five and over, and if you have multiple vehicles and decide to keep them both with the same insurance company, a discount could be applied. Maybe you are a home owner and have a home owner’s policy with this company. Then you would be eligible for a discount because you have multiple policies.

There are companies that offer discounts for good driving records. They may offer a discount if you have taken a defensive driving course. These are all good categories for discounts and definitely worth asking about when you initiate your auto insurance policy. Something’s that can affect your discounts or premiums are traffic violations and definitely if you have more than one. If you have an accident or multiple accident claims on your current or previous auto insurance policy that were your fault. This is the time when you will notice that rates will increase or your premiums will increase and the discounts become invisible or you may lose them all together depending on what discounts you were receiving on your current auto insurance policy.

Discounts are normally provided for good behavior patterns. Car insurance companies do not reward bad driving behaviors or patterns. This may be something that you would want to keep in mind when you are conducting a search for auto insurance quotes from any insurance company or if you want to see when your rates will decrease. The only way out of a bad driving history is time. The more time you allow that passes the better. It takes time for the tickets or traffic violations to come off your driving record at the Department of Motor Vehicles. Not only are you risking the higher auto insurance premiums but you are also risking your driver’s license when you accumulate the traffic violations and accidents.

This is the time to be responsible for your driving record but most of all for your actions on and off the road.
